Peabody Lane

Steven & Sara Farnsworth

Hi new friends! We are Steven and Sara Farnsworth. We met about a hundred years ago in high school, got married just a few years after that, and have been chasing all kinds of dreams all over the country ever since.

We’ve got three kids that we homeschool who keep us on our toes. It’s been a fun couple of decades and we felt like it was a good time to chase a new dream!

We most recently lived in Los Angeles where Steven worked in the entertainment industry (and still does remotely!), we even had our kids there and all loved it so much.

But we began to reevaluate our future dreams - as most of us did - during the pandemic.

So we decided to flip our lives upside down and buy land in rural Michigan to create a wedding and event venue. Yes, we know we’re insane. ;) We just love to celebrate! We love to celebrate all couple's love stories, we love to help throw a party to fundraise for a good cause, we love to provide space for great teachers to come to give workshops, and we really just love people and want to offer a great space that can make a party great. We cannot wait to host your next event!

We also know that - for some couples - their parents can’t (or won’t) attend a wedding so we’d love to stand in the gap as a support structure for those couples. We hope to provide a space that is more than just a venue. We want to offer positive memories of some of the greatest days of your life.

My Mom called me

Mildred T Peabody

Peabody Lane is my testament to her.

Sara here: When I was little, my mom gave me the nickname Mildred T Peabody. She actually gave all of her kids old people nicknames and even some of our friends, and eventually, she gave my kids old people nicknames.

When she died unexpectedly, I had a friend tell me that when she sees ladybugs it reminds her of her own mom who had died so I took that thought and ran with it. Every time I would see ladybugs it just felt like a little wink from my mom.

Fast-forward a few years to the day we were walking through the property on which we hoped to build a wedding and event venue. We had uprooted our lives by leaving friends and careers in Los Angeles and were pretty scared. As we were walking into the house that sits on the property we noticed dozens of ladybugs. And every single time we would come back to the house (for inspections, the day we moved in, etc.), there were dozens of ladybugs. It just felt like a little wink from my mom.

So to honor her, we named the property Peabody Lane. It’s felt like she’s been winking at us throughout the entire process. I even found a ladybug in my bathroom just last week (I’m writing this in December)! We hope to carry on her love of people and joy in celebrating all the things with Peabody Lane.
